SEXUAL HEALTH
Let’s talk about sex, baby
Struggling with low libido or painful sex and don't know where to go to get help? Feel underprepared for life and relationships with the dismal or non-existent sex ed you received? Want to flourish into the confident, sex-positive person you were meant to be? You've come to the right place.
Ziva Wellness offers medical expertise and experience combined with a passion and focus on sexual health and function. The best and most thorough care involves the interconnectedness of a person's mind, body, and environment. The focus is on individualized care, spending adequate time with people listening to their concerns, and solution-based outcomes without ever having to leave your home.
Women’s sexual problems are very common. Worldwide, about 41% of women will experience a sexual problem in their lifetime. Interacting with the health care system, especially around sexual issues, can be inconvenient, disempowering, disrespectful, or even traumatic. Ziva Wellness aims to heal negative individual and system experiences by providing accessible, sensitive, private, trauma-informed services.

I provide sex counseling through a medical framework, which is different than sex therapy which is based in mental health. My goal as a sex counselor is to triage the pieces of the puzzle that are contributing to one’s sex life not being ideal and then help problem solve. This is usually fairly short term and involves a combination of education and suggested “experiments” to try both on an individual and couples level. Because I approach things from a medical lens, if any biological issues need attention, I can help with that too. You may need a referral to a sex therapist, whose job is to provide in-depth, comprehensive and intensive psychotherapy for an extended period of time for those who need it.

Sex counseling is short term and solutions based. If you have any underlying or ongoing problems that need more intense, long-term treatment, a referral to a sex therapist may be warranted. If you experience painful sex or other biological symptoms, a referral to an in person ob/gyn provider and/or pelvic floor therapist may be indicated. You may also be referred to couples therapy or individualized therapy. Luckily, I have friends all over the state and can refer you to someone great that will help you cross the finish line of a healthy sexual relationship with yourself and others!

Sadly, this is not the case! Sexuality is a very strongly intertwined network that we call “biopsychosocial”. While there are some medications that I can prescribe for Hyposexual Desire Disorder, often this official diagnosis is not the case and treatment includes education of what is normal and what isn’t, and working with your brain-which is the biggest sex organ!

Yes, and this is often encouraged, as long as you are ok with it! Your partner will also have to fill out our privacy forms to make sure the whole team is on the same page.

It is important that each sex counseling client comes out of their own free will and desire and not that of their partner! Couples who want to come together for sex counseling are welcomed, but each person who sees me for sex counseling must want it for themselves.
