I am a Certified Nurse Midwife with additional specialization in menopause, and am certified as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. Most healthcare providers don't get much training in their programs about menopause or midlife longevity. Many aren't up to date with the current evidence or comfortable with prescribing hormones. I have spent years educating myself, pouring over the evidence and current information, and helping women manage their midlife concerns.

Yes! I am passionate about giving you all of your options including FDA approved formulations, compounded medications and nonhormonal options. Your best options will depend on your symptoms and medical history, whether or not you want to use your insurance or commercial pharmacies, and preferences.

Did you know "bioidentical" is a marketing term and not a medical term? A product is considered bioidentical if it shares the same molecular structure as the products naturally made in the body. Many FDA approved products are bioidentical and these are my preferred options since they are regulated for safety and quality, cheaper, covered by insurance and widely available.
Some companies use the term "bioidentical" to sell compounded products that tend to be expensive, unregulated and not tested for safety. While I am not against compounded products and will always present you with all of your options, my primary goal is to give you evidence based up to date information on the products you are choosing as well as their risks and benefits.

I do not. I am not against pellets, but they are more likely to provide supratherapeutic doses and cannot be as controlled as other formulations.

Yes! Testosterone can be an essential tool in a large toolbox of hormonal therapy options. There is currently no FDA approved testosterone product for women, but FDA approved testosterone products for men can be used safely off label for women at a reduced dose. Testosterone compounding is also an option.
Testosterone is a controlled substance. Currently, the legal regulations allowing testosterone to be prescribed via telehealth have been extended to the end of the year in 2024. After that time, it may no longer be an option.
